Recieved a report from one of those "Big Irons" flying too high to see much. He reported what he thinks was a plane crash at 069/33 Mi from PAEN. He thinks (?) there might be a small strip there?
If his location was correct it is possibly West Papoose Lake Strip (44AK). Please go over and see if any help is needed and if so render same.
44Ak is 11/29 1600' Turf strip @ 250' which is located in a slight depression I think.
A front has passed thru since the Big Iron report.
Current reported wx. is 030 OVC 5 -S 200/10 + 15
Check that your survival gear is up to date. Might not hurt to take along some extra basic medical supplies. Return back to PAEN either way.

Hi Guys
I have tried this flight 4 times and cashed every time going into the hole. I think that this flight is not possible, but if someone who is a better helicopter pilot than me wants to try and prove me wrong then please give it a go.
Please scrub me from this flight, I will try something else.

Well now. I found two ways to get into and out of 44AK. #1 Fly a "Hot Air Ballonist" and gear close to the site then let him go down there and find out if there was a crash or not. #2 Sorry W. M. I flew a Piper Cub into and out of 44AK. Before leaving I reduced all weight to 165 lbs (pilot) and only 50 % fuel. At lift off I put the P C into a tight climbing spiral and after 4 times around I was able to top the ridge. ;D ;D ;D Tries some "ultra Lights". Not enough climbing power. Tried a C195 and got out on the third try. Tried a Crop Duster. Nope Could not contain a tight circle with a Turbo (any type). All above types were with minimum weight and up to 50% fuel. Tries about 6 others but arm got tired and stopped. Finally, tell the Pig, excuse me Big Iron to get his eyes checked. No crashed aero plane down there. 1.3 hrs floating time. **COMPLETED**
