When I read the "star's" wife was coming along I figured a ton of luggage. Rolled out the DHC-3 Turbo to make sure of enough room and extra power if needed.
Well, the wife is a knock down beauty. Tripped over my tongue :Pwhen I first saw her. It quickly retracted when I saw the monster size guy she married. Stick to flying Ron.
OK, Weather was pretty good with a 070 SCT 7 -H Winds Lgf/Var. Flew direct except for that one BIG mountain about 40 miles out. Skipped around it.
Pretty country where they live but not much of a strip. The BIG guy came out to meet me. Really friendly. There were 10, count them 10 bags to load and they were all BIG and heavy.
The ex jock said no problem and he picked them up like they were a feather so I showed him where to store them.
He called his wife over, introduced us (ZZZOOOWWWIIIEEE) then he picked her up and gently placed her in a seat, straped her in, jumped in the co-pilot seat and said " let get it on". YES SIR.
It seemed that he has a PPL and wished to do about half the flying. His request was that I Take Off and Land and he would do the rest in the middle. I looked over and UP and said YES SIR. ;D
Well, he had very soft hands on the controls but total control. Rather pleasant to just sit back and watch someone else fly. He said this was the first Turbo he had handled and really liked it. We (he) did a few up's and down's and a few curlicues around so he could get a feel of a Turbo. He really enjoyed it. (she didn't)
I suggested he take it down to about 500' AGL then I would take over and land. I greased the landing (thank goodness) and let him taxi it over to operations. He handled it like he had done it all his life.
He gently lifted his (ZZZZOOOOWWWWIIIEEE) wife out. She seemed to be a little pale but put forth a weak smile and a thank you.
YOU TALK ABOUT A TIP. Just as big as he was. Any time SIR, any time.
Sure beats hauling around stinky fish or picking up the wrong guy (WM)
