OK, since all of our scenery designers have been inactive for some time now, I guess that I am going to force myself to learn scenery design. I installed FSSC and a whole bunch of Frank Betts' bush macros today. If I can get this process down, I will try to enhance our bases that I created with the Eaglesoft Hanger Kit. If I am successful at this, then I may try to create some remote sceneries but in order to do this, I will also have to learn how to use AFCAD. We will see how this goes. I may get frustrated and give up like I did when I tried to learn scenery design before.

Good luck my friend, I'm not a scenery designer in the very least!

I've found AFCAD to be easy to use, I just never see the results. For example, I try to change the location of the tower view to well, "the tower", but I never see the results in the sim. I am using the tutorial located here: www.simviation.com/fshelp.htmThe link is titled, "FS2004 - How-to Guide - Creating a proper tower" When I try it, it looks like I made some changes, but they never seem to show up in the sim. Did you say frustrating I can see why ;D ;D I'm gonna mess with it a bit again today... -Greg About an hour later... Ok, I actually put in a tower view at U45 (I know I know, there is no tower there - but I wanted to place the viewpoint). My problem, it seems, is that I was not clicking the location where I wanted it. It seems that when initially placing the view, it would not allow me to enter coordinates directly. Now, if I could figure out how to place some static aircraft on the ramp... OK, it looks like I'll have to learn all about AI if I want to add planes (and my PC does not have the power to fly AI aircraft)... unless I can find some planes that are macros?? I'm not sure. Frank, can you pint me to a tutorial on adding macros to existing scenery? I have AFCAD and FSSC, but I can't figure it out. -Greg

I could have sworn that I saw a turtorial on how to use FSSC on Frank Betts forum but I have been trying to find it again and no luck. I have a brief turorial that I printed from an IM conversation that I had with Paul Kane awhile back. I will check to see if I still have the text file that I saved and I can e-mail that to you if you want. BTW, Frank Betts does have a tutorial on how to use AFCAD to make your scenery appear in the FS2004 AFD, now if I could only find the FSSC tutorial. Here is the URL for Frank Betts forum. frankbetts.proboards19.com/Here is his website. www.flightsimsetc.dhs.org/It appears to be down right now.

Thanks, I do believe that is it. No wonder I couldn't find it, it was on his website and I was looking for it on at his forums.

Oh man, I din't realize I had been gone that long.... I am currently working on some airports in Colorado, but would be glad to help in any way on the Alaska airports when I'm finished down here. Just let me know where you want to go and I'll whip something off the GMAX. GMAX is the real way to go.....a bit of a bear to learn, but once you do, you can create your own objects, not just use the 'cardboard cutouts' that are available for RWY12 or FSE.

Sorry, Todd, I didn't mean to include you with the MIAs. You haven't been away that long. It was Paul and some of the other guys that I was talking about. Anyway, I know that you stay busy with MAC and MEA so I didn't want to burden you with scenery requests but since you offered, I would be happy to add to your project list. ;D

You are never a burden Frank..... OK enough with the gratuitous compliments of the boss... Anytime you need anything, just drop me a line and I will be glad to cook something up for your review
