A base or two in Florida would go alone well with our base in the Caribbean.

Its on the same page as the rest of the scenery downloads. It is AAS King. It is located at King (TIST, I think) on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

I seriously would like to be the resident AAS relay pilot based out of McKinzie Lodge. Keep a 500D and a Beaver there, for short hops and charters on that side of the range.
Dirt runways that follow the ground contours, backwoods, primative, no services...Remote....perfect - to me.
Put up a AAS sign, ham radio antena, a small wood hangar for the birds, bunk and desk inside....perfect.

Not familiar with McKinzie Lodge. Is it an addon airport already in existence or a suggestion for one?

i think i found it ..that would be "william p gwinn airfield {utx}...this is a private industrial field just north of west palm beech..it hase ils for both ends of the runway and is in a discreet location for ower operations and clientel...also centrally located for easy flights to cape canaveral ,miami and the bahamas...not to mention the many private ranches around orlando...as it is right now in freeflow florida form ..its just an asphalt runway ...could use a tower and hanger amd maybe a taxiway ...this airport is real and exclusive and the best i have been able to find as far as location ,nav aids and uniqueness.....scroll down to the last airport in this link and read about its history www.airfields-freeman.com/FL/Airfields_FL_OrlandoSE.htm#wewahotee what do you think ..WeDGe

i have been doing some research and alot of flying looking for the perfect airport...for a aas fbo in central florida ...i,am just wondering what you guys "my fellow bush pilots are interested in...such as...should i "we" chose a location the has asphalt and maybe a ils approuch...possably helipads...this would mean a larger airport but would be easier for someone to package the aas hanger and just add it to the existing airport ..or would you guys prefer a more out of the way grass strip that would need more work by you scenery guru,s to make into a nice base like hanger taxiway gas station ....is anyone but me interested in some southern thunder storm flying??.... i would be happy to post flights for this fbo so as not to burdon frank or anyone else with more work....heck i do it for misty moorings and only 15 people a week even look at it so i wouldent mind dreaming up some cool flight scenarios for my new friends here at AAS...what say you??? How about coming up with a couple examples of each and let me know which ones so I can go have a look. I fly pretty much VFR so ILS and Nav Aids don't really matter to me. I personnally would be more interested in ease of scenery design, unless someone with more expertise in scenery design wants to tackle this one.

I would consider location above all else. I could quickly modify an airport by adding a taxiway, ramp space, and the appropriate lights suitable for our operations.

thx for your replies taking into account franks suggestions and my own and the location ,location ,location factor....i have found it scratch wiallam p gwinn field ...maybe at a later date ...i have found a 4000+60ft asphalt runway that has a nice little ramp at one end and a circuler turnaround or holding area at the other...it is away from populated area but not to far it is also in the middle of central florida and far enough away from most of the smaller ranches and grass strips that it makes a great area to create flights from!!!!this would be the River Ranch Resort [2RR].....its next to a large lake so its easy to find vfr...no navaida but hopfully clmax can make an ndb and some vasi lights other then that all it needs is the aas hanger ,maybe a helipad and some runway lights would be perfect.....some scrennies first its location then overhead the southend the northend ok i got carryed away and had to take a pic of sarrasota fl....that would be freeflow florida rendition to sum it up its got the best location ,hundreds of airports of all shapes and sizes within a 150 mile radius to fly 2, unique field ..already good ,just add the aas hanger {anything else would be a plus} i have scouted so many fields from 1000 ft grass to multi rwy municipals to ex aaf and navy bases...to many pics to post after 3 days and mind numbing..lol..decision,s...this one is it ..see for yourself..i dare you to come up with something better...lol...you can get freeflow florida dl here.....WeDGe fs-freeflow.com/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=22

Where I live is a place called Gustavus and it is not but an half and hour from Juneau. It is a cool place and I think that there should be a base there. Take a look at it.
