Abacus has just released a new scenery design tool called EZ-Scenery. It is similar to Lago's FSE in that it allows you to create scenery by placing objects directly while in FS2004. Unlike Lago though, where only other users of FSE can use your scenery, EZ-Scenery creates a standard .bgl file so that anyone can use your scenery. I have purchased a copy and it is extremely easy to use. The download version sells for $29.00 but as a prior customer, I was able to get it for $17.40 since they have a prior customer sale going on right now. This program comes with a custom scenery object library but also allows you to place default objects and import your own. I highly recommend this program to any aspiring scenery designers out there. Unlike Rwy-12 where you have to download and install a bunch of third party software to use Rwy-12, EZ-Scenery is a complete intall with no need to install anything extra.

Looks to be a good deal. You can download a demo version and install scenery in the KSEA area without cost. Think I'm going to go try it out.
I'll have to check and see, but I think it'd be relatively easy to use objects from Rwy12 libraries as well. Of course, Rwy12 is free and this is payware but the price is pretty good!

Yes, you can use objects from RWY-12. Basically you just have to install the .bgl files in the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder and the textures in the Addon Scenery/Texture folder. EZ-Scenery appears to only recognize the object files if they are in the Addon Scenery folder or the main Scenery and Texture folders.

I just started checking in to EZ Scenery, as (for all intents and purposes) LAGO has gone belly-up on any support or improvements to FSEXchange. With all the hassles described on LAGO's website by their users, it would seem that LAGO is on their way out anyway. It's really too bad, because FSExchange was (in my opinion) much easier to use in placing objects than RWY-12.
It would seem that the Abacus product would give us much more freedom in releasing our sceneries to other folks, since they wouldn't have to purchase the product in order to use the sceneries (something that was hard to swallow with FSExchange and all their crazy restrictions).
Now would indeed be a good time to buy EZ Scenery (if you already own some Abacus software) with their Thanksgiving Day discount.

Hmmm... that's a bit of an issue but the advantages sound like they still outweigh the disadvantages. Still have to check it out...
