Hi all, I've been working on some Lake Hood scenery, since I live a mile from there and do my daily dog walks in the area, and I would like someone to test out my file to "freeze" the lake, esp with the Iditarod coming up. It doesn't actually freeze, I simply made a ramp shaped like the lake using an ice texture, but it works great for me! I have UT an dsome mesh installed, so I'm wondering how it'll work on other systems. Any takers?
I've redone the taxiways and ramps around LHD and Z41 to be realistic and begun placing objects similar to those in r/l in their actual positions, but I've been using A LOT of different scenery libraries. Do most of us already have a ton of libraries, like the lens, woody's, or even the basic Abacus libraries? I'm hoping to get it all working by the end of the coming weekend so it's usuable for Iditarod!

I'll give it a shot.

Any luck with that scenery Frank? Let me know if it works or not, or if it totally sucks!

OOPS!!! Sorry, I haven't checked that e-mail about a week. I have the files now and will give them a try. I am not sure that I will get to test it today but should be able to tomorrow. I will let you know soon.

Overall it looks good but here are my observations.
1. The lake isn't "frozen". 2. Some of the ramps and the shoreline don't really align well. 3. It conflicts with the Alaskan Winds PANC scenery in that the dock and hanger on Lake Hood are gone.
Apparantly I have all the necessary libraries because everything appears textured properly (except the "frozen lake").
I am not running any special meshes, just default.

Nuts... I didn't even know there was an AW hangar on the water... I know there's another LHD update that I want to get working with it too. The ramps shouldn't align with the shoreline eaxactly, although that may look better, I'll tinker with it. They're approximately what they are in r/l, there's a lot of unpaved areas. Does the lake surface look like this? And does your a/c still treat it like water? Mine's solid ice, although I haven't figured out how to make the wave effect stop, so from altitude I have wavey ice!

No, the water appeared as water. I don't know if it is solid or not since I overflew the lake in a helo. I will try landing on it tomorrow to see what happens.

The water is water. It is not solid like ice.

Hey Frank, what's the default altitude of Lake Hood?
I'm wondering if it has something to do with my fsgenesis mesh. I'd love to get this workable for others besides me!

Shift Z while sitting on the lake shows altitude varying between 153 and 154 feet as the plane bobbed up and down.
