Well, I had skimmed all the docs, looked at several flights and available aircraft, and I had the evening squared away for my first flight with FSEconomy. Then this happened:
auroraairserv.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=aasfggeneral&action=display&thread=1115172019
Of course, that was not caused by FSEconomy and in the end I got it all straightened out. I did have some initial FSEconomy related problems though, for example:
I had a difficult time finding a plane that passed the "Test Aircraft" test. So, for those of you who may be interested in flying FSEconomy flights, I recommend you look at the available aircraft within FSEconomy, and perform the "Test Aircraft" function of the client program a few days prior to selecting and flying a flight.
***EDIT***
I just noticed there is a list of supported aircraft on the site. If what you want to use is not there you'll still need to "Test Aircraft"
Frank - Please "Test Aircraft" with the default flavors of the Abucus C185, TIA
***END EDIT***
I certainly feel the draw that FSEconomy can create. The idea of making money flying, earning enough so you can buy your own plane, staying on the lookout for the most lucrative flights...
That brings me to the topic of this post: What planes offer the best mix of capacity, fuel economy, speed and price? Well, I wouldn't have started this topic if I hadn't already formed my own opinion.
It seemed that the best paying jobs often were 4 passenger jobs. Now you know and I know that in a pinch we can pack four passengers into a SuperCub and fly off on our merry way, but unfortunately, FSEconomy won't let that happen.
In the end, I've decided I'll be installing a Piper Cherokee Six and a Cessna 210 so I can rent them as my money makers for FSEconomy. In addition, the Piper Aztec and Seneca seem like good choices as well.
Anyone want to chime in with opinions on the best available (freeware or payware) versions of these planes for FS9? I'd sure appreciate it.
One other note...
On my list of "Buys" for this month were FSGenesis 38.2 mesh ($9.99) and the Abacus Cessna 185 ($10). Well, I got the mesh and I love it (I will have to do some minor tweaks to my McKenzie Lodge scenery)!!!
Now that I have sparked an interest in FSEconomy, I'm surprised that no C185 is listed. I'm hoping that will change because I'll be looking to add that to my hanger. Perhaps we could request it be added to FSEconomy.
Ok then... enough rambling... I can't wait to get to flying some FSEconomy flights though...
