Can anyone give me some advice on how to get started with FSE?

I just took a plane and crossed the country picking up flights as I went. Made some good money too. It's one of those things where you just need to try it. It's very easy and a whole lot of fun. Some folks have a rough time making money at first, so I recommend something like the SuperPacer to start out with. Just pick a direction and fly. Look at the airports 20 miles in front of you and drop down when there's some cash to be made.
Good luck!!!
If you come across some specific questions, give me a hollar. I've logged a few hours ;D ;D ;D

I ended up taking this assignment So far, I've made it as far as IA33 (for the big fee). However, I've got another 120 nm or so to get to my final destination on 10.3 gals (or 23% fuel) and now I'm doubting if I'll make it (I had 50% fuel to start, traveled 131 nm and used 27% of my fuel). Hindsight being what it is, I should've gotten some gas at 4D8. What are my options at this point? Do I cancel the flight and leave 'em stranded at IA33? Or do I chance it and see if I can go the distance?

I did a search and there is a airport within 10nm that has fuel. I have had to use the search function several times Jason

I guess I need to learn how to use the interface a lot better *grin*
In actuality - it's roughly only 40 nm from IA33 to 1Y5 (AirNav distance check), so I'm pretty sure I can make it on what I've got. Since I'm being billed for Tach time (and not for fuel), I believe that once I land at 1Y5 the missions over.
Or do I - as a matter of common courtesy - fill the tanks back up to 50% at the stop suggested before I finish up at my ending location?

You could but that is entirely up to you. If the plane belongs to an individual i defiantly would. Some people are touchy when it comes to leaving their planes empty.

Yeah and they can be down right hostile if you leave their plane empty at an airport that doesn't have fuel. Keep in mind that just because the airport has fuel in FS2004 that doesn't mean that it has fuel available in FSEconomy. They restricted fuel in order to make FBOs feasible.

So what do you do if your airplane is left at an airport without fuel?

Good point Frank. Success (and therefore fun and enjoyment) in FSEconomy requires good flight planning.

Well, you hope that there is enough fuel left to make it to a nearby (within 50 miles) airport that has fuel but it it really is empty, then you are basically screwed. You have to ask Marty (the adim) to deliver some fuel to you which he will do for a price.

Heh .. new improvement .. let you transport fuel around.

Well, you can. You can buy fuel wholesale and transport it which is what you have to do if you own an FBO and sell fuel. For example, I own FBOs at PAMR and PAHO. I purchase fuel from either PANC or PAEN and transport it to the appropriate FBO and sell that fuel retail since neither of those airports have default fuel in FSEconomy. The problem is, there is noway at this time to transport fuel to use outside of that scenerio.
