Now THAT says a lot - I'm glad you found the base template easy to use - I'm still finding things out about repaints myself.

The Official start was today. 4th Ave I believe to Campbell Field. Next is the race resumes tomorrow from Willow to Yentna due to problems with the trail. Updates can be found at www.iditarod.com/raceupdates/My chosen musher is in 9th Which is pretty darned good considering she is BLIND! May the Angels guide you Rachel. BTW the Maule on wheel-skis is pretty nice for this number too. Dave BAV 004

Found out when I got to Willow Airport yesterday afternoon, that Rachel opted to restart last so she wouldn't interfere with anyone else. This made sense. Her "guide" Paul Ellering drew a late start, but they did make it into Yentna last night.
The person who was supposed to notify everyone "forgot to call".
I did get to see some of the trail, and MOST of the news crews, before climbing to 6500 feet and returning to Merrill 30 minutes later. Today I move my temporary base of operation to McGrath, where I delivered some of the supplies yesterday.
I spent much of last night wondering if I am as insane as the mushers for getting us involved in this crazy excercise in insanity. I concluded that the Iditarod is a mass psychological overreaction to cabin fever, and went to sleep.
At least I use my own plane for the parts I "volunteered for". A thousand miles of trail, often hard to spot from the air, save for the almost endless procession of helicopters and planes.
*#@)! CNN and ESPN choppers circling over the leader caused me and several others in the trail flight pattern to take evasive action. They should be grounded for the rest of the race, and the pilots lose their licenses.
Stupidity should be painful! Often in Alaska, it can be FATAL!
