Willow - AWIDITARODK6,20060305,AAS032,058
Pre-start checklist complete 10 minutes before 2 at Lake Hood strip in a Scout. I couldnt find a soul who wanted to ride in, what one prospective passenger called "that cloth covered contraption with no GPS, a broken heater, and only one old worn and uncomfortable looking pax seat".
Fine....I loaded a case of those minature bottles of assorted liquors, they serve on the airlines, and off I went. Out of Lake Hood.
Transitioning Merrill Class D airspace enroute direct to 1st stop at Highland.
Spent an hour selling the race fans and assorted officals and locals my ill booten gotty (or ill gotton booty ;D) (the iiquor) at Highland before moving on to Wicker then Wasillia.
Getting ready to shut down at Wasillia. Afterwards sold the remainder of my "goods". At 1 degree below 0 seems lots of folks welcomed the convient appertief afforded by the small bottles. Most bought more than one. This is more profitable than haulin pax or freight.
Holding short of the intersection at 21 ready to depart Wasillia. Aliy is now on the Trail proper and Im done foolin round. Time to get down to business and support my......and ANY..... team that requires the support I and all my virtual Iditarod flight mates can and will be providing.
20 minutes later I was draining and drying my fuel tanks and changing to lighter weight engine oil for the colder geography ahead, after shuting down at Willow.
Im already camping on the Cabala's web site. I'll be glued there "again" until the last team crosses the finish in Nome in a week or two.
