Well, I started working on my tail wheel endorsement and took my first training flight yesterday in a 1946 Piper J-3 Cub. It is a totally different mindset than flying a C172.
It was like going back in time. There were two 1940's vintage J-3s in the pattern at the grass stip and I was flying one of them. I was flying from my Instructors ranch, T48. I absolutely loved it!!

Can you still see the taxiway/runway easily with your nose in the air?

You can't see over the nose at all. When you taxi, you can't taxi in a straight line like in a tricycle gear aircraft because you can't see ahead of you. You have to zig zag so that you can look out the side windows to see what is ahead of you.
A tall person may be able to see over the nose but I can't. When the tail is on the ground, I am staring right into the panel. The seats are not adjustable and the cockpit is really tight. It is really fun to fly the J-3 but it gives your legs a workout because it takes a lot of rudder control. It is also very difficult to get into and out of the plane.

That's what I figured. I've never been in the front seat of a taildragger before, so was wondering.
Good luck with your qualifications!

Oh, I doubt that I will be pursuing that. Probably next will be a High Performance endorsement.

It's going well. I only have 3 hours so far in the cubs.
We had pretty much a 90 degree crosswind yesterday so we flew over to another airport where the wind was only a slight crosswind to practice landigs. We had a headwind going to that airport so a slow trip in a Cub became even slower. On the way back, we had a tailwind so a slow trip in a Cub became a little quicker. My Instructor made the landing back at ranch due to the crosswind and it was even a bit of challenge for him.

Awesome Frank! I always wanted to get that endorsment, but never did. I had the chance to get it in a Citabria, but I was on a schedule to get my IFR.
Maybe someday...
