I'm in, I grabbed Martin Buser, I'll be sure to get a whole bunch of pics from around here when things get going, down at Lake Hood of the IAF and the Millenium Hotel (the race HQ), and the race start itself, always exciting!

I know there's supposed to be some special scenery to be installed. Will that be announced on the AW site, or where do we get it?

Yes, there is scenery that was developed in 2004 & 2005 (I think) that includes all of the checkpoints for both the North and South routes. I think that Joao will be putting together a list of that scenery and maybe somemore that other VAs have developed as well. Most of the AW stuff is available at AVSIM and possibly FlightSim.

I just found the scenery file that was put together for 2006. It is just a compilation of all the previous sceneries so I think it has both the North and South routes in one file. I will upload it to our site later today and post a link here.

OK, it has been uploaded to the site. I couldn't get the direct link to work right here so I have linked it at the bottom of our scenery page on the website.

The Iditarod sceneries are downloaded and installed, plus I've rebuilt the airport database in FSNavigator.
I was setting up the Northern and Southern routes in FSNav, but can't find three of the checkpoints... Yentna, Iditarod and Cripple.
Can anybody who's flown these routes before give me some hints on where these might exist?

I'm not sure about those specifically but there are some checkpoints that are not at airports. There are some that are on a riverbank and some that are along a road so on those you have to make bush landings. They should all be marked with a flashing red light.
My son has a Karate test for Orange Belt today so I will be away from home most of the day but if you still need help finding them later today, I will go take a look and see if I can come up with some additional info for you.

Tom,
I did a quick search of my old Iditarod stuff and found flight plans for 2005 and 2006. They are small zip files so I will just e-mail them to you. You should have them shortly.

Just an FYI in case you're not thinking clearly like I'm not this morning (too much wine at the company party last night)... the files Frank is sending had a "zm9" extension when I received them. In case you receive them the same way, they are actually "zip" files. Wake up Tom... Wake up!!!! ;D ;D
